Consumer Fair Back In June

BRUNEI’S largest consumer fair will be back for another edition, following the success of the fair, which saw a record number of visitors. The fourth Consumer Fair (CF4) will be held from June 25-28, 2009 at the International Convention Centre, said organizer Sunlit Advertising during a press conference yesterday. CF4 will feature a “Grand Thai Fair”, an exposition by the Taiwanese Invention Association Group and more quality exhibitors,” according to Jason Tee , marketing manager of Sunlit Advertising.

He said that more international vendors will be brought in to participate in the fair, as it is one way of helping the economy of Brunei. “We are bringing in the vendors (and their products) from abroad to allow the consumers to spend in the country, instead of them going overseas,” he added. CF4 will also showcase invited chefs from Malaysia or Singapore for cooking demonstrations in the “Brunei Kitchen”, as well as being judges for a cooking contest. Other side activities lined up for the fair include Consumer Fair Idol competition, Kids Karaoke competition, Brunei Cybergames competition, kids colouring contest and a treasure hunt, to ensure that there is something for everyone. Tee said that many of the local and foreign small and medium enterprises (SMEs) would be back to promote their products.

“More than 70 per cent of local and oversea vendors had already signed up for this coming CF4 fair,” he said. He added that the consumer fair is different from other expos as there are no product restrictions. The previous edition (CF3) in January 2009, attracted a total of 51,982 visitors, while 250 booths were set up. CF4 is now set to break that with 300 booths made available. (IRNI)
